Samsung Bans AI Tools Usage After Confidential Data Leaks
Samsung has forbidden the use of generative AI systems on company-owned devices after several employees leaked confidential information using ChatGPT accidentally. Platforms like ChatGPT have been extensively used both internally and externally, however, with Samsung afraid of sensitive data being transmitted to AI platforms and stored on external servers, the policy will apply to company-owned computers, tablets, phones, and even internal networks, but not to devices sold to consumers. The company has suffered from three cases of confidential information being leaked via ChatGPT in just 20 days. Employee termination or disciplinary action will be the result of breaching the new policies, and Samsung's trade secrets have been classified as OpenAI's intellectual property after the platform retained sensitive data.
