Workers Worried as AI Seeps into Business Operations, Survey Finds

According to a Pew Research Center survey, most employees expect AI to transform hiring, firing, and workplace assessment. 68% of those surveyed expected AI to have a major impact on jobholders over the next two decades. However, only 28% thought AI would affect them personally and 38% were unsure of the outcome. Workplace surveillance is another general concern with 81% stating that more use of AI will lead to workers feeling inappropriately watched. While in theory, AI technology has the potential to make hiring fairer and increase workplace diversity, Pew's survey reflects a contradictory picture as 47% of people think AI would do a better job than a human in hiring but 41% oppose the use of AI in hiring. This fear and doubt about AI's role in the workplace is understandable as AI evolves quickly, and nobody knows how it will change jobs and work in the coming years.
