India has successfully demonstrated a 5.56 km free-space Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) link, achieving a secure key rate of 230–260 bps. This trial marks the nation's first step toward satellite-to-ground quantum communication. Utilizing advanced tracking systems, the link maintained low error rates. The experiment integrates quantum keys into a quantum-resilient infrastructure, crucial for future satellite deployments. The National Quantum Mission supports this technological advancement.
