On the latest quarterly earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the company is still devoted to the metaverse, despite reports that sales teams were spending less time pitching it to advertisers. Zuckerberg said the company is “exploring” ways to incorporate such AI into WhatsApp and Messenger, as well visual creation tools for posts and ads on Instagram and Facebook. Meta’s past virtual assistant, M (launched in 2015), was an early pattern-matching AI-based experiment exploring automation of customer interactions on Facebook.
