Europe Unveils €387.8M LUMI-AI Supercomputer to Boost AI Sovereignty
The European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking has signed a €387.8 million contract with French firm Bull to develop the LUMI-AI supercomputer in Finland. Powered by AMD's MI430X GPUs, LUMI-AI will significantly enhance AI and scientific computation capabilities. The project aims to reduce reliance on NVIDIA's technologies and support European technological sovereignty. Deployment is slated for late 2027.
