AI Companies request US court to dismiss artists' copyright lawsuit

In a class action lawsuit filed by artists Sarah Andersen, Kelly McKernan and Karla Ortiz against AI companies Stability AI, DeviantArt and Midjourney alleging unauthorized copying of their work to train generative AI systems, the companies have moved the US Federal Court in San Francisco to dismiss the case. The companies contend that the AI-produced images are not comparable to the artists' works and maintain that the accusation lacks precise details about the images that were allegedly misappropriated. The artists have claimed that the acts have violated their copyright. The case is Andersen v Stability AI Ltd.
