What the limits mean
- These are guides, not rules. Google cuts by pixel width, not by character, so a title full of wide letters cuts sooner.
- Front load both. Whatever gets cut is the end, so put the thing worth reading first.
- Google rewrites descriptions often. Yours is a strong suggestion rather than a guarantee, which is a reason to write it for a person rather than for a crawler.
- A missing description is worse than a long one. With nothing to use, Google pulls whatever text sits near the top of the page.
