Sound Ventures invests half its new $240 million AI fund into three companies

Sound Ventures, a Beverly Hills-based venture firm led by Ashton Kutcher, Guy Oseary, and Effie Epstein, invested half of their newly announced $240 million AI fund into three companies: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Stability.AI. The firm plans to invest in only six companies altogether, with no plan to set aside money for follow-on rounds. The concentrated nature of the fund reflects the few power players that Sound Ventures sees emerging in the remade AI world. The high-risk strategy sets itself apart from traditional venture investing tenets. Sound Ventures will also be investing in an early-stage fund simultaneously.
