Snapchat Faces Backlash as Users Pan “My AI” Feature

Snapchat’s addition of an AI chatbot to its app, powered by OpenAI’s GPT technology, has faced a popular and growing backlash. The feature, which answers user questions and is pinned to the top of the Chat tab, rolled out to a wider audience last week. However, data from Sensor Tower reveals that the average U.S. App Store rating for Snapchat in the past week was 1.67, with 75% of reviews being one-star. This compares with an average rating of 3.05 in first quarter 2023, with only 35% of reviews one-starred. The app saw five times the usual rate of daily reviews in the past week.
