SK hynix's board has approved a groundbreaking ₩54.3 trillion ($38.2 billion) for two new semiconductor fabrication plants. Notably, ₩19.1 trillion is earmarked for Cheongju M17, a dedicated NAND Flash facility, marking the company's significant shift towards NAND. The development aims to meet escalating demands from AI data centers. M17's cleanroom is expected by December 2028, while Yongin Y2 DRAM fab will follow in June 2029. This investment is a key step in SK hynix's ambitious ₩1,100 trillion plan for AI memory expansion.
