OpenAI has confirmed Samsung Electronics as a joint production partner for its custom AI chips, marking a significant shift from sole reliance on TSMC. The partnership is backed by a $200 billion MOU with Broadcom, enabling Samsung to manufacture chips at its advanced Texas facility, which has improved its 2nm yield to 80%. Samsung also recently shipped the world's first HBM4E memory samples, crucial for AI accelerators. This collaboration enhances Samsung's role in OpenAI's hardware strategy.
