OpenAI secures over $300M in new funding at $27B-$29B valuation

Venture capital firms such as Tiger Global, Andreessen Horowitz, K2 Global, Thrive and Sequoia Capital, among others, have invested just over $300 million in the artificial intelligence (AI) start-up OpenAI, which has now been valued at $27 billion to $29 billion. OpenAI is behind the widely used AI chatbot ChatGPT, and has other AI offerings including image-generation tool Dall-E and speech recognition model Whisper AI. The VCs investing are primarily financial backers, while Microsoft, which invested $10 billion in January, has integrated OpenAI’s tech across several areas of its business.
