Nvidia has released an open source toolkit, NeMo Guardrails, aimed at making AI-powered text-generating apps more accurate, appropriate, and secure. The toolkit includes code, examples, and documentation to "add safety" to AI apps that generate text and speech. Guardrails can be used to prevent models from veering off-topic, responding with inaccurate information or toxic language, or connecting to "unsafe" external sources. While Nvidia acknowledges that the toolkit isn't perfect and won't catch everything, it marks a significant step forward for mitigating the risks of text-generating AI models.
