The study found that 25% of people surveyed around the world had either experienced an AI scam or knew someone who did, with India being the most affected country at 47%, and one-third of victims losing over $1,000. To protect against AI voice scams, people should limit what they share online, set a challenge question for suspicious calls, verify information before responding, and consider not answering unexpected calls from unknown numbers.
