Discord is completely abandoning the Electron framework, transitioning its desktop application to the Rust programming language. This move is aimed at enhancing performance and reducing RAM usage, with the new client reportedly using only 290MB of RAM. CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy emphasizes that they have been using Rust since 2018. The full Rust implementation is set to undergo user testing soon.
