A joint team from LG Energy Solution and Seoul National University has unlocked a key solution for next-gen lithium manganese-rich (LMR) batteries, enhancing their performance without altering materials. Their research, published on September 7, demonstrates improved capacity retention of 92.2% after 883 cycles. By optimizing both charging and discharge voltages, they mitigated gas evolution issues, paving the way for a 2028 commercial rollout.
