A Notre Dame study reveals alarming levels of PFAS, including PFHxA, in popular smartwatch bands from brands like Apple, Google, and Samsung. Eight of 13 fluoroelastomer bands tested contained high PFHxA levels, raising health concerns. While its direct impact remains unclear, avoiding fluoroelastomer bands may minimize exposure. Budget bands under $15 showed no detectable PFAS, highlighting risks in expensive options. Further research is urgently needed.
