Acapela Group, recently acquired by Tobii Dynavox, has launched a "my own voice" service that enables anyone to create an AI voice profile for free. The service is particularly aimed at those who can no longer speak, and has reduced the recording training time from 8 hours to just 10 minutes. The voice generator is customisable and can be re-recorded or artificially aged for a diverse range of users. Once recorded, the AI-generated voice is available for download for a fee to use with compatible speech generation systems. The service has potential benefits for people with degenerative conditions, cancer, or those who have lost their voice.
