YouTube is broadening access to its Likeness Detection tool, originally launched last year, to combat unauthorized AI-generated content. A pilot program now includes journalists, government officials, and political candidates. The tool operates similarly to Content ID, identifying deepfakes using individuals' likenesses. While it aids in finding such content, removal is not guaranteed. Users can still report deepfakes, but decisions lie with YouTube’s review team.
