Stability AI's $101m Series A Funding Questioned over Ownership of AI Models

Leaked pitch slides and Telegram messages obtained by Sifted raise questions over Stability AI's claims of "co-creating" generative AI models with other companies, like its rival Midjourney, as the company struggled to raise a new round of funding. Stability AI had appeared behind Stable Diffusion, one of the most impressive text-to-image models on the market. However, it emerged that Stability hadn't developed the Stable Diffusion code, and it didn't own the intellectual property to it. The start-up now releases its first proprietary AI model after questions about fundraising and runway arose.
