Sony invests in Raspberry Pi to boost AI capabilities

Sony’s semiconductor unit has invested in Raspberry Pi, the company behind tiny single-board computers that are the size of a credit card. The deal will help Raspberry Pi further its efforts in artificial intelligence and allow users and developers to make visual sensory applications with Sony’s AITRIOS platform, equipped with its IMX500 imaging sensors. The extent of the funding was not revealed, but Eben Upton, Raspberry Pi’s co-founder and CEO, said that the firm raised the cash at the same $500 million valuation it was worth in a 2021 funding round. This will help kids understand computers as they exist today, rather than machines from several decades ago.
