Samsung Electro-Mechanics Invests Nearly $5 Billion in AI Chip Substrates

Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEMCO) announced a historic investment of 6.78 trillion won (approximately $4.99 billion USD) to expand production of flip-chip ball grid array (FC-BGA) substrates. The funding will enhance operations at its Sejong plant and Vietnamese subsidiary, driven by soaring demand for AI server components. SEMCO's commitment is supported by major tech supply agreements, signaling its competitive position in the AI hardware market.
