OpenAI's chatbot under investigation for alleged personal information collection without consent
/Canada's Privacy Commissioner is investigating OpenAI for alleged collection and use of personal information without consent for its ChatGPT AI chatbot. Germany, France, Ireland, and Spain might also be considering a similar investigation. Italy's data protection watchdog temporarily blocked the chatbot due to an alleged data breach, which raised concerns in the other countries. While the investigation primarily focuses on privacy concerns, the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy (CAIDP) filed a complaint with the United States Federal Trade Commission, expressing its issues with the release of powerful AI systems to consumers. Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak also signed a petition calling for AI firms to "pause" progress on AI systems more powerful than GPT-4.
