Mozilla Launches a New AI Startup with a Focus on Trustworthiness and Openness

Mozilla has launched a new AI startup, Mozilla.ai, which aims to create an independent and open-source AI ecosystem that will address society’s most pressing concerns about such technology. With an emphasis on transparency, accountability, agency, and openness, Mozilla will be led by Moez Draief, Managing Director of Mozilla. The mission follows OpenAI's original vision and commitment to building AI that benefits humanity; many believe the company has strayed from this. Microsoft invested tens of billions in OpenAI and has rolled out integrations with its popular products at a rapid pace; however, the partnership may have led OpenAI to take more risks, and the company is now firmly a for-profit (capped at 100 times any investment).
