Levi's has teamed up with digital studio LaLaLand.ai to create an AI-generated model to supplement representation in various sizes, skin tones, and ages. The brand aims for consumers to see more models on their site, reflecting any combination of body type, age, size, race, and ethnicity. Other fashion brands, including Calvin Klein, are also having custom AI models created to aid in representation. The AI-generated images can cut costs that brands would otherwise spend hiring multiple models for each product. However, the diversity that AI models can provide is virtual and raises the question of whether it's digital blackface.
