Google's VP and Engineering Fellow, Geoffrey Hinton, has stepped down after 10 years, citing concerns about the technology he helped develop. Hinton, a pioneer of deep learning, co-developed techniques that underpin nearly all modern AI, including backpropagation. Hinton feels an intense sense of responsibility to alert the public to the potential risks of AI. Hinton will speak about his concerns at EmTech Digital on May 3rd. The computer scientist was the joint recipient of the 2018 Turing Award.
