Influential figures such as Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, and Andrew Yang have signed an open letter calling for a six-month pause on developing AI systems more powerful than GPT-4. The letter asserts that if private companies fail to stop training AI beyond GPT-4, "governments" should step in and enforce a moratorium. The letter currently has over 1,100 signatures, however, some have questioned whether all the big-name signatories actually signed it. OpenAI has not yet responded to the call to halt further AI advancements.
