Duke University and IonQ have successfully demonstrated a maximally entangled quantum state across three isolated trapped-ion modules. This achievement confirms the feasibility of photonic interconnects in modular quantum computing and closes a significant loophole in quantum non-locality. Their results, published on arXiv, showcase unprecedented entanglement fidelity of 84.1%-88.1%. This milestone paves the way for scalable quantum networks.
