Automattic Cuts 16% of Workforce to Secure Future

Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, has announced layoffs affecting 16% of its workforce, equating to about 280 jobs. CEO Matt Mullenweg stated the decision aims to ensure the company's long-term viability. Prior to the cuts, Automattic employed 1,777 people. This move follows ongoing legal battles with WP Engine, which could strain the company further.
