AI Researchers Create Believable Virtual Town
Stanford and Google researchers have populated a virtual town with AI chatbots which are truly a realistic representation of how humans behave. ChatGPT prompts generative agents to achieve realistic responses to circumstances in a given time frame. In this experiment, these agents are residents of a fictional town and interact with others, based on prompts from their immediate surroundings. The agents have the ability to generate conversations, respond to different situations and even face consequences for their actions—even if they don't have a physical existence. While the research could have implications in gaming and virtual environments, it is seen more as a significant step forward in creating believable simulacra of human behavior.
