Asus Introduces AFS Appliance for Generative AI, Powered by Nvidia Chips to Keep Control Over Sensitive Data

Taiwan based Asustek Computer launches AFS Appliance, one of the few AI services that help companies unleash generative artificial intelligence potential while maintaining data security and control, solely using hardware installed on the client's premises. The AI computational platform, based on Nvidia technology, will be administered and updated with new data by Asus with the hardware preloaded with the proprietary language model called Formosa, equivalent to ChatGPT 3.5 and trained in traditional Chinese. The service will cost $6,000 per month and $10,000 per month for the highest-spec offering including an Nvidia DGX AI supercomputer platform. The company plans to partner with local telecoms and onboard 30 to 50 enterprise customers in Taiwan and expand internationally by 2022.
